Blogging for Blogathon 2006
Posted on Thursday, July 20th, 2006 at 10:49 pm.

Blogathon 2006 is a campaign to raise money for various charities. Uh, by blogging. You sign up for Blogathon 2006, (and if you’re like me and you’re worried about the teachers at MIT for the summer program noticing you being on the laptop every 30 mintues, get a t-shirt) and you stay up for 24 hours (starting 9AM on Saturday, July 29, 2006) and blog every half hour. That skyrockets my blog posts from about 12 to about 60.

So to keep me awake after 9PM that day to 9AM the next day, I’ll sit on the hard floor without a pillow or anything. I’ll have my headphones plugged into my computer and ears, and have it play a sample of Slipknot or Unearth or some kind of heavy metal with some screamo in the beginning 5 minutes before blogging time. Unless if I get really sleepy, I’ll wake up. Hell, I’ve woken up to Breathe (2AM) once when my iHome alarm went off. Heavy death metal shouldn’t be too hard. (Maybe I should wake up to that every morning…)

I’ll have some caffeinated stuff such as Starbucks Frappuccinos right beside me, some tea, Pepsi, and other stuff. And of course, the sugar. Sugary stuff will also exist in my food and drink box next to my laptop. Yay for sugar! I’ll also be chatting with other Blogathon 2006 bloggers.

I’m not exactly sure what I’m supposed to be blogging about those 48 blog posts, but I’ll take a guess and say that I can blog about anything. Well, I hope… Maybe I’ll toss in a few music reviews and software reviews if I can’t think of anything. Well, Digg is my friend, so I probably won’t run out of blogging ideas – I’ll probably have too many. Which isn’t a bad thing in this campaign.

I’ll be blogging for Amnesty International, a group that protects human rights.

The only thing I’m currently worried about is the amount of money that is pledged for my blog. Hey, if your name is not David, Paul, or my mom, congratulations! You are one of the few unique visitors of this blog! W00t!

So, you can see that my blog is not a popular one. If I do not get at leastone sponsor, it is not worth blogging through my MIT summer enrichment classes, and from 9PM to 9AM in the morning and losing a lot of sleep. I really want to contribute to the charity and I really want to do this, but I need to get one sponsor or more or I’m dropping it. I’ll check at 9AM on the day it starts – if I don’t have a sponsor that pledges, I’m clicking the Drop button. I have one sponsor! But you should still sponsor.

Please, do a good thing and pledge some money for Amnesty International (and help me help them as well.) You can click the annoying “Support me in Blogathon 2006!” box always at the side of the page (unless your browser is messed up, or if it is called “Internet Explorer 6”.)
