Shelling Out for an Extended Car Warranty – the Only Way to Go
April 26, 2015
When the subject of an extended car warranty comes up, most people think it’s a waste of money. Just think of it this way – if one brand of car you were considering came with a one-year guarantee and another came with a five-year guarantee, which would you prefer? If there is a certain poor reputation that extended car warranties suffer from, it could come from the fact that people choose poorly when they go shopping for one of these. Why is an extended car warranty indispensable? Most people need a car to get to work; people need them to get to job interviews. This is just not something that you can compromise on in uncertain times such as these.
The first part of choosing a car warranty is choosing wisely. If you buy your auto warranty from the dealer, what will you do if, like it happened to so many in2008, your dealership closes down due to losses? Many people back then who bought a warranty from their dealer on a Saturn or a Saab have no recourse now. The dealerships is closed. Instead, you should buy from a reputed warranty company. Most people don’t do this because the dealer is warranties usually the cheapest. That’s not the way to go about it though. You need someone who has the ability to pay when something goes wrong with your car. The cheap car warranties don’t have enough of a corpus to fund all the claims they get.
There is a great way to get to fund a good quality but expensive, extended car warranty – to finance it. No one ever said you had to come up with the entire price right away. You can often get it financed at 0%. Just make sure that you don’t do this at the car dealership. Even if they do offer a high-quality warranty. That’s because if you do this alongside of your car purchase, they’ll just add it to the financing you’re taking out for the car at 14%. The financing on your car warranty is supposed to be for free. Do you wonder what to do about getting a car warranty when you have a really old car? Plenty of premium warranty sellers like Warranty Direct will take on cars that are really old – with almost 200,000 miles on the clock. And they cover everything from the axle and transmission to the engine. Be sure to get quality warranty on your really old car, and drive in peace.
RC Nitro Cars and Trucks
April 25, 2015
Remember how much fun it can be to be a kid? Yeah, those are the days of exploration, toys, loads of running around and riding bikes. It really does not get much easier than when you are a kid. This is where the expression comes from, “oh, to be a kid again.” Well, there is really no way to go back in time and be a kid again, but that certainly does not mean you have to give up everything that is fun and exciting from your childhood. What about rc nitro cars and trucks? These are an excellent way to stay in touch with your childhood, and have a blast as an adult, One you try one out, you are essentially hooked for life.
Do you realize the variety of rc nitro cars and trucks available these days? It really is nothing like ever before. There are also radio controlled helicopters, airplanes, boats, and submarines as well. It all depends on the type of vehicle you prefer playing with. Most people tend to opt for the rc nitro cars and trucks that reach high speeds. If you are not familiar with what these RC vehicles can do, then you are about to realize that they are very advanced toys. Some rc nitro cars and trucks reach speeds over 70 miles per hour. Can you imagine controlling a car the tenth of the size as your car at that speed?
There are both battery-powered and gas operated rc nitro cars and trucks. It all just depends on your preference and what you wish the vehicle to do. If you are looking to race your RC car or truck professionally, then you should seriously consider the gas option. The gas may last longer during a race, and you can refuel with ease. As for battery-operated rc nitro cars and trucks. these typically operate with a battery pack. It varies in size and power, depending on the vehicle. Typically these can be recharged within one to four hours, and they may provide you with around 20 minutes of running time.
The faster your rc nitro car, the quicker the battery pack will burn down. As for the radio receivers or controllers these rc nitro cars and trucks use, they vary depending on what vehicle you purchase. While some are meant to be operated by your thumbs, others have a pistol grip, which is operated by your trigger finger and opposite hand for steering. Neither works better! It all just depends on your preference. You can purchase some rc nitro cars and trucks that come with no receiver. This way you buy the receiver on your own. While many of these are expensive, they are made very top quality, and allow for a lot of fun.
RC Car Racing -You Are in the Game to Win, aren’t You?
April 24, 2015
Of all the activities that an RC car enthusiast gets to indulge in, RC car racing has to get top billing. To look at any RC car racing enthusiast, it doesn’t usually matter they get to race against – it could be a next-door neighbor or at a competitive event – the kind of high they get from it is obvious. Of course, as important as participating is to any RC car racing enthusiasts, it isn’t just about how well they play. The thrill lies in the winning. And there are a few things that any dedicated racing enthusiast can prepare for make the best of an event.
There are a few racer controlled components to a car that can affect the outcome of an event as much as the tires can. Tires need to be selected with discretion. They need to be matched to the surface that the race will take place on. If at all possible, you need to be able to look at the kind of tires that come recommended for the kind of surface the race will be on. If you could take a look at the kind of choices that the other racers at an event are making, all the better. It’s easy to get swayed into trying out some newfangled tire/insert combination on the market for a race. A competitive event is hardly the time to try out something new. That can wait for when you’re practicing at home. You need to be able to focus on just the combinations that you are comfortable with, having raced with them in the past. Usually a race on asphalt is done on foam tires, purple seems to go very well with it. On carpet, with foam tires, black in front and purple on the back can be particularly effective.
Psyching yourself up for an RC car racing event can be really important. Showing up early for an event for instance goes very far in showing your fellow competitors how seriously you take an event. That display of involvement can be hard for your competitors to recover from. You can show your technique off by indulging in a few warm-up games to pass the time, and tie up loose ends before you get ready for the main event. Since each event takes place on a fresh surface, you need to be able to practice on the very surface the event will be on before you race for real. Show up early enough to help set up the turf so that you can get to practice on it the longest. You’ll be glad for the extra practice.
The Endless List of Fees a New Car Dealer Charges You
April 23, 2015
Go to a new car dealer’s with the serious intent to buy a new car, and you get struck with a virtual hurricane of jargon of all the different kinds of fees they plan to charge you. Who really knows what these things mean? You do, if you read the rest of this article. Let’s start with the A’s. The Additional Dealer Markup is a silly made-up fee the new car dealer dreams up just for you. That’s what they have to pay to their financers for all the stocks of cars that they keep. Usually, they pay about $100 a month in interest for every car on the lot. They want you to pay it for them. The thing is, the car factory usually helps dealers with this. But they’ll just go around and collect it all over again from you too. Isn’t that convenient? If the car has been sitting there on their lot for three months, they’ll have collected that fee three times from the car factory. But they still want you to pay for it. It’s an absolute insult to your intelligence, and you want no part of it.
How about the dealer prep charge? That’s the charge that the dealer collects from you to ready the car for sale – they take the plastic off the seats, do any superficial cleaning that needs to be done, put on a coat of wax on and check the fluids. For this, they want you to pay $500. What can it take them, an hour to finish the job? How could they in good conscience charge $500 an hour for such a job? Another funny fee they love collecting from you is the Drive Off Deposit. That’s just a completely made up fee that the new car dealer collects from you to try to balance out the rebate that they may have given you. It’s just stealing, plain and simple, and you don’t want them to do it on your coin.
And finally, the Factory Holdback is something you want to watch out for. The factory holds back 2% or 3% of the price of a car from the dealer until they actually sell it. Once the car is sold, they’ll give dealer the their money back. What dealers do is, they try to double charge it – once from the car company, and once from you. If you see this on your invoice, ask to have it removed or threaten to walk out. It is well worth the effort to display some backbone.
A New Car Buying Guide for Today’s Market
April 21, 2015
Why do you need a new car buying guide anyway? You just read the reviews for the cars you have in mind, and you go try to negotiate the price isn’t it? Well to begin with, the car dealer has decades of experience putting one over you. You don’t want to risk going in there and putting yourself up against that kind of experience without preparation. To begin with, have you considered using the Carwoo service? With this service, you get to negotiate cars deals with different dealers in your area while you keep your name and identity secret. And then, Carwoo will set up a kind of auction for you. You are the product that the car dealers desperately want, and they will bid each other down for the lowest price to win your favor. If that isn’t a winning idea!
That apart, let’s take a look at those pointers promised to you in this new car buying guide. Let’s look at the scenario that you’re likely to come up against at a new car dealer’s. Sometimes, they’ll say that they don’t have a in particular model that you ask for, but that they can source it from another dealer and get it to you really quickly. Does that sound like a good deal? You bet it doesn’t. To begin with, they’ll tack on all kinds of additional fees when you do this. And also, before you go to the trouble of bringing a car all the way over, they will always want you to sign all the paperwork. A lot of the time, you’ll find that the car they bring in is not the car that you want. But since you have already signed everything, there’s nothing you can do about it. Your best idea here would be to just find out who that other dealer is, and go buy directly from there.
For the most part, no new car buying guide tells you what the best time to buy a car is. Is there a best time? Actually since you ask, there is. Right around Christmas is a great time to buy a car. This is a time when everyone’s completely swamped with expenses buying Christmas gifts that they just don’t think of it as the time for a huge purchase like a car. The car dealers are really desperate for customers around this time and will do anything to sink their hooks into you. They’ll cut prices, they’ll give you freebies, you name it. Another great time to buying cars is around the month of August. Come October, the new models starts rolling in, and all the dealers want to do is clear out space for them.
In parting, make sure that you never buy a car without visiting a consumer advocate website likeFightingChance. You’ll be glad you visited.
A Low Interest Car Loan – the Rules of the Game
April 19, 2015
While it is possible that you are, lots of people every day are fooled when they bring a car dealer around to a price they are comfortable with. That’s because car dealers like to yield on sticker price and then make it all back and more with a complicated deal on a car loan that few people are likely to be able to understand. How do you negotiate for a great price on a car as well as low interest car loan? Let’s look at a few of the best practices there are for the best in car loan negotiations.
The mistake that most people make with a car loan is that they don’t think about it until they head in to a dealership and select a car. You don’t want to the dealer to know that you have your heart set on a car you can only get for him. Car dealerships consistently rate as one of the worst places to go to for a low interest car loan. Online banks and small banks are infinitely better. And credit unions usually charge far lower than even that. Once you have a loan approval from one of those people, they’ll hand you a blank check that’s good for anything up to a certain amount. Head into a car dealership with a check in hand and ask them to beat it if they can. It’ll improve your chances of snagging a great low interest car loan.
Each time you apply for a loan, your credit score takes a dip. It doesn’t even matter that you actually take out a loan for it to dip. The very act of applying does it. That makes your next loan attempt that much more expensive. Make sure that you make all your loan inquiries and applications within a 15 day period. That way, all your applications will count as one loan, and you won’t be damaging your credit score and shooting yourself in the foot. In the end, make sure that you make inquiries by the total loan amount that you wish to take out, and not by how much you wish to pay each month. Lenders have a great way as making your loan look much cheaper naming it by what you want to pay each month. They can easily make you take out a bigger loan by making it last for longer. You just have to drive an old car for longer, and they don’t care.
Hybrids for Sale Dancing in your Head? Think about these before you Head for Them
April 17, 2015
You have to love the Prius don’t you? The way it silently pulls out of a parking spot is just indescribable. There have been hybrids for sale for about 10 years now, and every major manufacturer has at least one model out – the Ford Escape hybrid, the Chevy Malibu hybrid, the Honda Civic hybrid, the Chevy Silverado hybrid – the list is endless. Even Mercedes-Benz has a couple of hybrids out. As wonderful as hybrids are, perhaps people follow the “hybrids save the planet” mantra a little too literally. Let’s look at the flip side for a change, shall we?
The hybrids for sale that you see today claim that they are 80% cleaner than conventional vehicles. Wait a minute, that’s ‘up to’ 80% cleaner. The thing is, if you happen to drive in start-stop city traffic, hybrids really are 80% cleaner. If you get out of the city a lot and drive on the highways, you won’t see any difference at all between a conventional car and a hybrid. Hybrids get all of their fuel efficiency from their use of electric motors drive the car at speeds under 15 mph. Once you get out of the city, you are never going to get a chance to drive at 15 mph, are you?
Unless you’re looking at used hybrids for sale, new ones can come with quite a waiting list and a premium that you will be asked to pay over the sticker price too. Hybrids are cars that are in demand for their coolness factor. And that’s after the price you pay for buying hybrid in the first place, which can be a few thousand dollars over what a conventional version of that car costs. Whatever premium you pay on a hybrid can take years to recoup in gas savings.
There are a few myths that people carry around thinking about why a hybrid is better than conventional gasoline engine car. It might be helpful to take a look at them before put your cash down for a hybrid. The first myth there is is that hybrids, if they run out of gas can keep going on electric motor for some time. Now a hybrid car is not a plug-in vehicle. It has an internal battery to keep the electric motor running, but it’s designed so that the battery has the gasoline engine charging it all the time. You might be able to drive a little distance, but you wouldn’t get far. There is one more powerful myth to do with the hybrid batteries in there. People worry that they’ll have to keep changing those hybrid batteries every couple of years like with conventional car batteries. Not exactly. Those are batteries that come with 8 year warranties. They last that long.
Thinking of Everything When You Buy New Car Insurance
April 15, 2015
If you find yourself constantly visualizing you in a new car or truck and perhaps getting rid of the old family workhorse in the bargain, you could find that the price of insuring a new vehicle can be surprisingly high. It would be a good idea to look more closely at why this should be so before you head out to buy new car replacements for the old ones in your family.
Let’s start with the kind of exterior you car has. Do you realize that you could buy a staid car like a Camry or an Accord and still pay sports car type insurance premiums? It doesn’t make sense of course, but if you buy a two door version or a coupe version of any of these family standardbearers, you will be placed in the insurance category occupied by sports car owners. They feel that anyone who buys a two door car has to want to drive his car like a Mustang. And harder they believe you will drive your car, the more they’ll charge you for being a high risk car owner. But would you believe it – owners of convertibles have to pay less when they buy new car insurance than owners of standard top cars.
So if safety equals savings when you buy new car insurance, how about an SUV? There could be nothing safer for you than a large car like that, could there? Not so fast. An SUV does keep you safe; but whoever you hit with the SUV is going to be in serious trouble. And your insurance company will probably be liable for them too. So if you are planning on buying an SUV, you’d better reconsider for the kind of insurance charges you will end up paying.
The kind of brand you end up buying can have a lot to say about your insurance costs too. You could look it up on any popular Internet calculator, but owning the latest Ford Fusion can be a lot less expensive than a Camry. To buy new car insurance for the Ford Fusion can be a gladdening experience. The Ford F1 50 wins out against the Dodge RAM too. Even the kind of engine and transmission your car comes equipped with can make a lot of difference to your insurance costs in the end. Generally, a manual transmission is more expensive to insure. So there you go – it makes all the difference in the world to what your insurance costs will be like, the kind of car you buy.
Buying New Cars with Dignity – Taking Test Drives Without Fear
April 12, 2015
To most people, buying cars isn’t the happy and exciting experience they would rather it was. It’s usually anxiety-provoking. The reason is that is that they know that they have to deal with car salesmen any time they walk into a dealership to test drive a car. People hate the pressure that buying new cars lands them in. The salesman is always completely tuned into one channel – trying to get you to commit right now. You are on a completely different channel – you want to just collect information and try to decide at your own pace. The problem is, that you are in their turf at the dealership. You aren’t the one who’s trying to dream up new ways to trap them into doing anything. They are the ones who are trying to trap you.
No matter what you say, salesmen just keep coming back trying to discuss prices with you. Any time to do that, all you need to do is to politely and firmly say to them that you don’t wish to waste their time, that you are considering other cars as well, and that you will not look at any numbers or discuss prices. You just want a test drive, and buying new cars isn’t on your menu this day. The fact that you are unwilling to waste their time will certainly gain you a little grudging respect from them. At the end of the test drive, they’re going to make you feel like you owe them the courtesy of sitting down to discuss the prices. But you know what to say to them.
Make sure that you never call up ahead to book a test run. That’s a move that’s too much like trying to be their friend. They aren’t your friend just because they smile at you and shake your hand, are they? During the test drive, it is the job of the salesman to really pump you up. They’ll turn the stereo up and try to show you how great everything is. In short, they’re trying to get you feel celebratory. You’re here for a test drive though, and are trying to size everything up. You’re in the middle of a serious job and the salesman is trying to distract you. Ask pointed and deep questions about how to work everything, turn down the music and try to listen for any strange noises. No matter what you see that really excites you, don’t show any excitement. Pretend like you are quite unimpressed with what you are seeing.
You get the picture, don’t you? You’re not to budge no matter how much they try their mind games on you. At the end of the test drive, tell them you understand that having customers buying new cars is what they’re interested in, but you have to take your time to make the right decision. Take their business card and leave with dignity. You’ll feel better about yourself for having done this.
